Manchester United Football Club have kept hold of David de Gea in rather odd circumstances, and he must be feeling slightly upset that he didn’t get his dream move to Real Madrid, although United fans will be happy about that.
When Juan Mata moved to the club, David de Gea was at Carrington to greet his compatriot, and now the roles have reversed. Yesterday Mata was pictured hugging his friend after the news about his future broke, and today the attacking midfielder has spoken out about the situation.
“He seems the same as ever to me. He’s calm, relaxed. He has a naturally calm personality. These have been difficult days but he is ok.” Juan Mata said.
“It is good for him to be here with the national team too. I think his personality will help. He is always calm. Even in moments of maximum pressure or stress he still plays well. His personality will help him on and off the pitch.
“David is professional and he always will be. His desire and professionalism will remain intact. Any team in the world would be better off with him in it. The fans always support the team, all of us, and they will support him.
“He is a friend and he is very professional. I wish him the best and I am sure he will be fine. He will manage the situation.”
Hopefully it won’t be long before we see David de Gea in-between the sticks for Manchester United once again. The Spaniard has remained the consummate professional throughout the summer and he knows he’ll get a warm welcome from the Old Trafford crowd.
Who knows, he might even pen a new deal and end up staying at the club for this season and beyond.
