Juventus are preparing to let Alex Sandro leave Turin this summer, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, translated by The Metro, they’ll demand £55million for the left-back.
It had previously been reported that the Red Devils had already opened talks with the player, and it feels to me like Jose Mourinho desperately wants to a sign a new left-sided defender when the window opens.
For whatever reason, the self-proclaimed Special One seemingly doesn’t fully trust Luke Shaw, whereas Ashley Young isn’t getting any younger despite some brilliant performances recently.
Sandro, 27, is up there amongst the best left-backs in world football and it’d be a major coup if United could prise him away from Juventus this summer, although it’s quite a hefty price for a defender.
But, if any club can afford to pay the huge transfer fees it’s the Red Devils, and as we’ve seen in the past they don’t shy away from shelling big money. Hopefully, that trend continues and Sandro will be a United player before the start of the 2018/19 season. We desperately need a talent like him on our books as Mourinho continues to mould the squad.
