Paul Pogba is a doubt to play for Manchester United this weekend, as they prepare to take on Liverpool. That’s according to ESPN.
The 24-year-old is set to have a late fitness test ahead of the heavyweight clash, after pulling up in training on Friday morning.
It’s an odd situation with Pogba. He’s obviously a world-class individual with talents that could take him to the top of the footballing pyramid, but at times, the performances have been nothing short of atrocious.
If the Frenchman is missing, it’d be a blow, purely due to injuries in that area of the field. Ander Herrera is out, whereas Marouane Fellaini could return, but it’d be unlikely to see him start.
It’d probably mean Scott McTominay partnering Nemanja Matic, which I’d be concerned about. They lack that potent creativity in attack, which Pogba could bring to the table. Although there is a real concern about which Pogba you’re going to get. On his day he’s magnificent, but you just know alongside that, you’re always going to get a below-average display every now and then.
In better news, Eric Bailly could return at centre-half; which would be a huge boost.
