Manchester United Football Club will likely undergo a major overhaul this summer, under the watchful eye of Jose Mourinho. One man who was expected to leave, but now is likely to stay was Michael Carrick. That’s according to Times journalist, Paul Hirst.
Michael Carrick expected to sign one-year contract extension in the coming days. Mourinho has told him he wants him in his squad next year.

This is a huge boost for the fans, but it also must fill Michael Carrick with a huge amount of confidence. Now 34, the man from Newcastle brings that experience that not many members of the current squad have, perhaps with the exception of Wayne Rooney.
Although he may not have the legs to play two times a week anymore, he still has a massive influence on the rest of the squad and credit to Jose Mourinho for noticing that almost immediately.
Hopefully, the club announce a new contract for Michael Carrick before the European Championships get underway.
