Anders Lindegaard came in for a lot of slack when he joined Manchester United 18 months ago, but since then he’s certainly silenced a lot of his doubters when called upon. The Dane claims he’s over his injury problems and he’s fit and ready for the start of the season.
In an interview with BT, the 28-year old admitted he is desperate to be our first choice keeper, but insists he is more than happy with life at United.
“There is no place in the world I’d rather be than Manchester United,” He continued “But I don’t want to be on the bench for the rest of my life. When you’ve experienced how it is to start for United, you would do anything in the world to experience that again.”
Anders certainly seems like he wants it enough, ever since he’s joined the club he’s made it public knowledge that he doesn’t plan on being a bench warmer ‘just picking his nose’, he fully intends to show why he should be the first choice, and will prove it on the upcoming tour of the world.
“When you play for a club like Manchester United every game throughout the season is important. These first ones are even more important as they give me the opportunity to show that I’m back to the level I was before my injury.”
You feel that long-term De Gea will be our number one choice, but as of right now, both keepers are quite evenly matched. So the chances are that both get a good amount of games next season.
