Louis van Gaal bizarrely claims Manchester United man ‘is not ready’ for first-team yet

Manchester United have promoted youth aplenty this season, largely due to a whole host of injuries protruding through the first-team squad. However those chances have definitely been taken, especially by Marcus Rashford. Although Louis van Gaal reckons he isn’t quite ready yet.

“Rashford is not yet ready and he knows that; he can still learn a lot.” Van Gaal began. “It is always a risk when you promote young players to the first team because it is such a step up.”

“As a manager you always need guts to put youngsters in the squad.”

Louis van Gaal certainly deserves a lot of credit for promoting Rashford, and my has the young man taken his chance. Its at the stage where a man of just eighteen years old has become undroppable.

To claim he isn’t yet ready seems a bit odd though. Manchester United are a side that have always bought into the tradition of, ‘If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.’ Marcus Rashford certainly fits that bill.
