Louis van Gaal confirms defender is back in training after injury

Manchester United have received some mixed injury news ahead of United’s trip to Chelsea this weekend. Bastian Schweinsteiger has been ruled out of the game, but Phil Jones was back in training today, and presumably isn’t too far away from a return.

Van Gaal said: “Jones is coming back. He has trained today [Friday] with the first team so that’s good.”

At least Jones is back in training, and with United’s limited options at the back we need as many fit defenders as possible. He’ll certainly get plenty of game time too, with United still in the FA Cup and the Europa League starting up again.

Its now time for the former Blackburn man to stay injury free for a prolonged period of time and get some valuable minutes under his belt. We’re yet to see him develop into that world class defender we all thought he would be.
