Louis van Gaal confirms Manchester United has been his toughest job

Louis van Gaal met the British media ahead of West Ham’s visit to Old Trafford on Thursday afternoon, and the Dutchman confirmed that United have nine injuries in the current first-team squad. He also hinted that the United job could be the hardest job he has ever taken, despite being in charge for just under a couple of months.

“Maybe, but we have to see in a year, not in a week when we have nine injuries.” Van Gaal said.

Its interesting that after just five games, Louis van Gaal thinks that this could well be his toughest task yet. He has never taken over a team that finished seventh the season before, and he’ll know more than anyone just how tough of a task this will be. Just to even qualify for the Champions League is tricky enough, with many expecting him to do one better than that and challenge for the title.
