Manchester United head South to take on Tottenham Hotspur this coming Sunday, in a game which is almost definitely a must win if Louis van Gaal’s hopes of finishing in the top four at to continue. That task may have been given some form of boost as a couple of players are now back and available.
The stern-faced Dutchman met the media today and gave us all the positive news that both Ashley Young and Phil Jones are back, have had enough training under their belts and are back in the frame to feature for the first-team as early as this weekend.
Ashley Young has always been a key part of Louis van Gaal’s plans due to his versatility, and the Englishman has more often than not repaid that faith with brilliant performances.
The Phil Jones conundrum is an interesting one, especially given the injury record of the centre-back. He has certainly turned into the forgotten man this season due to missing the majority of the action due to being sidelined, and although he is back, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is sold this summer.
