Louis van Gaal explains what United have to do to finish in top four

Manchester United’s slender hopes of finishing in the top four are still alive, with Louis van Gaal’s job seemingly hanging on by a thread too. The Dutchman met the media ahead of United’s crucial game against Norwich this coming Saturday, and outlined what the club have to do to secure Champions League football.

“We have to win three games in a row, two away. We don’t win too many away games.” Louis van Gaal said.

It felt like the Leicester City game at home was always going to be key, and sadly we couldn’t claim the three points that were desperately needed.

However our slim hopes were kept alive when Southampton managed to stick four past Manchester City later that evening. With only a couple of games left for them, and three games for us, it feels like we’ve left it far too late and its going to take a minor miracle to secure a Champions League spot from here on out.

Eventually that failure could cost Louis van Gaal his job whether we finish in the top four or not. One thing is for certain though, we’ll certainly be in a much better place than we were when he came in as manager.
