Louis van Gaal explains why he substituted Ander Herrera vs Swansea

Manchester United secured their first win in nine outings against Swansea City yesterday, with Louis van Gaal’s side grabbing a 2-1 victory. Ander Herrera was a key part of that, and fans were left baffled when he was substituted late on. Louis van Gaal has now explained that decision, and its brilliant.

“With Herrera, it was because I wanted to waste time, as Swansea did all match,” Louis van Gaal said.

He has a point as well, even just ten minutes into the match, Swansea’s intentions were clear. They came to Old Trafford for a point from minute one, and were chewing the clock at every possible opportunity.

Manchester United had the last laugh in the end though, and the three points were the perfect way to kick off 2016. Hopefully the fans can now get behind Louis van Gaal once again, and if we can go on a decent run, we could well fire ourselves back into contention in the not too distant future.
