Louis van Gaal has identified Ezequiel Garay as the man to sure up Manchester United’s struggling defence, according to the Daily Mirror. United sent two scouts to watch him play for Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League on Wednesday night, with a view to making a bid for the Argentine as early as January.
Garay cost Zenit £12million this summer, as he made the move from Benfica to Russia, however United feel that they can prise Garay away from Zenit although he hasn’t been at his new club for even six months.
The 28-year old has often been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but a bid never came to the table as both David Moyes and Sir Alex Ferguson scouted him on numerous occasions. However Louis van Gaal may be the man to break that trend as he looks to bring some experience to a struggling back four.
