Manchester United Football Club take on Chelsea tomorrow, with Louis van Gaal and Guus Hiddink going head-to-head for the first time in the Premier League. Ahead of the game, the Iron Tulip met the media and was certainly keeping the cards close to his chest regarding team selection.
He was asked whether former Chelsea player Juan Mata will start, and Van Gaal responded saying that ‘we will have to see’ as well as adding ‘maybe Pereira is better’.
“We will have to see if J.Mata plays there vs Chelsea. Maybe I have another no.10 who is better than him, maybe A.Pereira is better.” Van Gaal said.
This is certainly interesting, particularly given Andreas Pereira’s unrest at Old Trafford at the moment. The young man clearly wants to play week-in week-out, either at United or elsewhere, and this could be a show of faith in the Brazilian if he were to start.
