Louis van Gaal ‘hopeful’ Shaw will play again this season

Manchester United lost their Champions League opener 2-1 against PSV last night, in a game that was overshadowed by a horrific injury to 20-year old left-back Luke Shaw, who suffered a double leg break following a tackle from Hector Moreno.

After the match Louis van Gaal met the media and confirmed the news about the break, but the Iron Tulip hopes his young starlet can play again this term.

“I hope he can play again this season.” Van Gaal said.

Even the manager looked disturbed after the injury occurred. It really was a freak incident but its a real shame for Luke Shaw and Manchester United football club.

Personally I’d be surprised if he turned out for the club again this season. A double fracture is an injury that takes a long time to recover, and after that comes months of rehabilitation and fitness work before he can think about kicking a football again.
