Manchester United fans were left in a frantic panic before kick-off, as Anthony Martial was withdrawn from the starting line-up and match day squad due to injury. It is thought that the Frenchman has a tight hamstring, and after the game Louis van Gaal had his say.
“I am not a manager who takes risks.” Louis van Gaal said in his post-match interview, when quizzed about the fitness of Martial.
It sounds as though that Martial was pulled from the line-up more as a precaution rather than a serious injury which is obviously encouraging for the 20-year old – especially with an FA Cup final looming.
His presence in the side was certainly felt, too. United struggled to create any sort of chances without that burst of pace he provides, and Louis van Gaal will be hoping he can get back into the side to take on West Ham this Wednesday – although the chances of that happening may appear to be slim.
