Louis van Gaal speaks out about poor Manchester United performance

Manchester United drew 0-0 at home to PSV Eindhoven last night, and as you’d expect Louis van Gaal was highly critical of his players. One area of the field that came in for much of the blame was the midfield, as the gaffer claimed that the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinstieger didn’t look hungry enough for the ball.

When asked about the result, Louis van Gaal said: “They are human beings. You never know. We are still in a qualifying position I believe.”

“I said during half time our midfielders should be available for our defenders. I wasn’t happy about that.”

“It was clear some of our players didn’t have the confidence to demand the ball tonight.”

Its disappointing because it was in our hands tonight. The side just didn’t look like they had any fight and attacking intent in them, and that will now make their task away at Wolfsburg a whole lot harder.

We now need to go to Wolfsburg and win the game to guarantee our progression to the knockout rounds, and if we don’t secure all three points we could well be playing Europa League football come February.
