Manchester United lost their first game in five at the weekend, as Louis van Gaal succumbed to defeat at the hands of Tony Pulis and West Brom. Before that game there were many raised eyebrows as Van Gaal decided to leave out the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Guillermo Varela.
The Dutchman was then asked about whether he feels those aforementioned decisions were justified.
“I shall always make my lineup in my eyes as the strongest lineup to play against the opponent.” Louis van Gaal responded.
At the end of the day the game is done and hindsight is a wonderful thing. You can understand why the Dutchman wanted to rest players ahead of the Liverpool game later today, but there was a real chance to make ground on Premier League rivals and it feels like he kind of threw that away.
