It feels like this saga will rumble on and on until either we sign Wesley Sneijder or the Dutch #10 decides to hang up his boots. Every summer we’re linked with the 30-year old from Utrecht, but for me its now too little too late when it comes to signing him as he is know the wrong side of 30.
Louis van Gaal’s Holland were dumped out of the World Cup by Argentina on penalties last night, in a shootout which Sneijder missed his penalty with a poor effort from twelve yards.
Manchester United have been told that Sneijder has a £16million release clause in his contract claim the Sun, and that they’ll have to buy him out of that if they want to bring him to Old Trafford.
President Unal Aysal said: “Sneijder is a good player. We want to keep him at Galatasaray.
“If we receive an offer of 20 million euros we do not have the luxury of saying no. That is stipulated in the contract.
“All I can say is that if any club pays us 20 million euros and he wants to go then we can’t force him to stay — it’s written in his contract.”
Personally I’d prefer it if we spent this money strengthening elsewhere. We have plenty of #10s in our squad so we don’t need to splash out on yet another one. Currently Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj and Rooney can all play that position probably better than Sneijder, so it seems like a waste to me.
