Lukaku and Lindelof likely to get these iconic shirt numbers at Manchester United: report

Manchester United have already confirmed a move for Victor Lindelof this summer, and one for Romelu Lukaku certainly doesn’t seem to be far away. Now, according to the Daily Mirror, their ‘likely’ shirt numbers for next season have been revealed.

According to the report, Lukaku will be handed the #10 which has recently been vacated by Wayne Rooney, and worn by some other greats like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dennis Law and George Best. The 24-year-old Belgian certainly has some huge shoes to fill, but I believe he is more than capable of doing exactly that.

For Victor Lindelof, he’ll apparently be handed the #2 jersey which has been vacant for quite some time. Perhaps the greatest player to wear that shirt number at the Theatre of Dreams is Gary Neville, one of the finest defenders we’ve ever had.

The article also explains that Adnan Januzaj has been told he will not be getting a squad number, which coincides with the news that he hasn’t been included on Manchester United’s pre-season tour squad list. Sadly, it seems as though the writing is on the wall for the young attacker.

Now it’s up to the new guys to show us all what they are made of during the tour. There are some big games against powerhouses like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, so it certainly provides them with the perfect opportunity.
