Manchester United are in dire need of a huge transfer window in order to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at least a slim chance at success.
The Reds have several holes all over their playing squad, although that problem could be about to get worse before it gets better – that’s if an exclusive from the Daily Express turns out to be true…
They say that forward Romelu Lukaku is ‘set to depart’ Old Trafford this summer, after scoring fifteen goals in all competitions during the 2018/19 campaign.
Furthermore, Paris Saint-Germain have now apparently joined Inter Milan in the race to sign the top-class 26-year-old, as they look for alternative options in case they miss out on Lille foward Nicholas Pepe…
The problem for both PSG and Inter seems to be United’s transfer fee demand. Understandably, United want to recoup £80million of the £90million (after bonuses and add-ons), that they paid to sign Lukaku. The two potential suitors on the other hand, aren’t willing to pay that much.
United are well within their rights to want to make as much as possible off Lukaku’s sale, particularly as I don’t think he has been a bad player over the last two years. Plus, when you factor in his age, the forward still has several years left at the very top and the Old Trafford club shouldn’t be making a loss on him.
Honestly, though, it does feel to me as if Lukaku will leave United over the next couple of months. I get the impression that his head is already elsewhere, and after what will likely be long, drawn-out negotiations, I do think the Belgium international will be playing his football in Milan during the 2019/20 campaign.
