Although Luke Shaw doesn’t seem to be an integral member of Jose Mourinho’s squad at this point, the Englishman is doing all he can to change that.
According to the Daily Express, the young left-back has flown out to Dubai, returning to training a week early, to do some warm-weather sessions.
The Red Devils who didn’t attend the World Cup aren’t due to return to Carrington until next week, but having this attitude will no doubt serve him well. It’ll also impress his manager endlessly.
For whatever reason, be it due to injuries or a lack of trust, Shaw just hasn’t had that opportunity of a regular run in the team. If he got that, there is no doubt in my mind that he’d make the position his own.
You do feel that this is the make or break year for the left-back who is still just 22 years of age. He has at least a decade ahead of him. Time is certainly on his side.
Hopefully, he’ll have a good tour and displace an ageing Ashley Young in the team. Who knows, the missing defensive piece could have been right under our noses all along.
