Luke Shaw targeted as backup option if Baines bid fails

Manchester United have made an enquiry over the availability of the very talented Southampton left-back, Luke Shaw. According to the Express, the highly coveted 18-year old is top of a list United have drawn up incase they fail to land Leighton Baines.  The youngster is believed to be valued at around £10million.

Shaw started for The Saints this weekend and put in an impressive performance. He put in some excellent tackles, made some superb runs and managed to win a penalty in the last minute which won his side three points.

The player has recently put pen to paper on a five-year contract though, meaning he won’t come cheap. Southampton have no financial problems either so they will be in no rush to sell.

Mauricio Pochettino has continued the Southampton tradition of putting his faith in youngsters who have been produced by the club. Luke Shaw follows some impressive names such as Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gareth Bale.
