Manchester United have been handed a boost as Luke Shaw is set to return to the first-team squad on Boxing Day, claim the Manchester Evening News. Shaw has been missing for a month with ankle ligament damage, an injury which he suffered in the early stages of the 2-1 victory over Arsenal.
Louis van Gaal will be hoping the 19-year old can return to full fitness over the hectic Christmas schedule, and be able to give some natural defensive abilities to the left full-back slot, which is currently occupied by Ashley Young.
Shaw is clearly a talented footballer, but injuries have certainly hampered his Manchester United career within the first six months. He suffered a hamstring strain which ruled him out of the first month of the Premier League campaign, and this latest setback has meant he has missed another four weeks. Hopefully these problems are behind him and he cam cement down that left-back spot for the long-term.
