Manchester United need offensive reinforcements. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side look toothless at the moment, with the Baby Faced Assassin seriously paying for the decision to thin out the squad.
Anyway, one name that keeps appearing in the media is Mario Mandzukic – and you do get the impression that a deal will eventually happen.
Well today, we’ve been given the clearest indication that may well be the case. The story comes from Goal, who state that United are closing in on the January signing of the 33-year-old Croat.
Apparently, the Reds are ‘confident’ that a £9million fee will be accepted and agreed with Juventus, who are ‘desperate’ to sell the forward.
Furthermore, Mandzukic is set to sign an 18-month deal at Old Trafford worth around £4.5million a year.
After failing to score more than one goal in a game since the opening day, it’s a serious need for United and quite frankly, January cannot come quick enough.
The sad thing is that I’m not even a huge Mandzukic fan. United are just so thin on the ground that anyone half-decent could do a good job for us at this point in time.
His experience will be hugely helpful, while he will score goals for United. However, Mandzukic will need replacing in a season or so which will mean the 20-time Premier League champions will be back at square one in 2021’s summer…
