Tottenham Hotspur have identified Manchester United’s Anthony Martial as a summer transfer target.
That’s according to The Standard, who say that Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign the 22-year-old to provide some much-needed competition for Harry Kane.
I think it’s fair to say that Martial’s Old Trafford career is currently at a standstill. The Frenchman is an immensely talented young man, but since Alexis Sanchez’s arrival, things have certainly taken a massive dip recently.
At Martial’s age, a lack of playing time can be incredibly frustrating and you couldn’t blame him if he wanted to move away from the Theatre of Dreams.
Personally, though, I feel United should be doing all they can to keep him. A player with his incredible ability doesn’t come around all that often, and I cannot help but think that the Red Devils would regret selling him to another Premier League team.
With all that said, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Martial move on. It’d be typical Jose Mourinho for him to sell the youngster and bring in a more experienced attacker as that’s just the way the self-proclaimed Special One rolls. I don’t know about you, but I get the feeling we’ve got another Kevin de Brune or Mohamed Salah on our hands…
