Man United battling with SL Benfica to sign talented 19-year-old midfielder: report

Manchester United Football Club has identified Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Nikola Moro as a potential summer transfer target, according to Portuguese media outlet Record, translated by The Metro.

The report says that the Red Devils will challenge SL Benfica for Moro’s signature, after the 19-year-old has made 36 appearances for Zagreb this term, really cementing his place within the Croatia sides setup.

His playmaking abilities have apparently been compared to that of his compatriot Luka Modric, with the midfielder’s stock growing hugely over the last few months.

At this point, Old Trafford is believed to be Moro’s most likely destination, although Zagreb won’t be letting him leave on the cheap, after already turning a £12.5million bid down for the creative midfielder.

Honestly, I think it’s glaringly obvious that United need to work on their midfield options. Outside of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, our midfielders have been struggling hugely recently. Whether or not Moro is the answer to that is another matter entirely.

If I were bringing in a new midfield man, I’d look for a player with more seniority. At just 19, we’re not sure exactly how Moro is going to develop and grow as a player. The Premier League is much tougher than the Croatian league, and it’d obviously be a huge step up for the young man; meaning it’d likely take him quite some time to adjust to English football.
