Man United begin preliminary contract talks with Paul Pogba: report

Manchester United Football Club have opened preliminary contract talks with their 26-year-old star, Paul Pogba.

That’s according to The Times, who state that United are looking to persuade the midfielder to stay at Old Trafford.

Pogba currently has two years left on his current deal, though the Reds hold the option to extend that by a further year if they so choose.

For me, it goes without saying that Pogba is United’s best, most talented player. The fact that he doesn’t want to be here pains me considerably, but right now, we need him.

While he’s been injured, it has been a real struggle for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to extract any creativity from the midfield. It goes without saying that we’re desperate for him to play against Arsenal.

In regards to the contract, I highly doubt Pogba is going to be willing to commit to a new deal under any circumstance. If we’re being honest with ourselves, we’re talking about a player with huge ambition that United cannot match right now.

Unless we offer him huge wages or suddenly start winning major trophies, I just don’t see how United keep him around. I’m happy to be proven wrong (obviously), but at this point I just think Pogba has already made his mind up…
