Manchester United Football Club will certainly be set for a busy summer in the transfer window, with Toby Alderweireld seemingly being targeted.
According to journalist Sam Pilger, the Red Devils are getting closer to capturing the signature of the world-class 29-year-old Tottenham Hotspur centre-back. To add to that, a deal could be done sooner than expected.
It’s worth noting that Pilger used to be employed as Manchester United’s official magazine editor, so this guy is clearly clued up when it comes to his sources at Old Trafford.

Alderweireld would bring some much-needed experience to the heart of our back four. Time and time again we’ve been left disappointed by naivety and carelessness from the likes of Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones. Adding a real leader back there can only be a good thing.
At 29, signing the ready-made player is a typical Jose Mourinho signing, similarly to how he brought Nemanja Matic to United last summer. The self-proclaimed Special One has always been a win-now manager and the club would’ve known that when they appointed him as gaffer.
My only concern is the fact that no doubt Spurs will demand an arm and a leg to let him move to a Premier League rival. Hopefully, though, a deal will be done. In an ideal world, it’ll all be sewn up before the World Cup…
