Man United closing in on deal to sign Daniel James from Swansea

Well it seems as though Manchester United aren’t playing any games this summer, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to push through deals as soon as possible.

According to the Evening Standard, the Red Devils are ‘closing in’ on a deal to sign Daniel James from Swansea City, with the Baby Faced Assassin hopeful that a deal will be agreed ‘imminently’.

Apparently, the United manager has told Edward Woodward that he wants summer business to be concluded by July 1st, with 21-year-old James seemingly the first signing of what needs to be a busy summer.

The Evening Standard even go as far as stating that James will cost £15-20million with add-ons and bonuses – although it’s not all good news as the same article claims that United will have to shelve a move for Jadon Sancho until next summer.

Solskjaer had identified the 19-year-old as a player with the ‘perfect profile’ for this squad. However, Borussia Dortmund’s willingness to keep a hold of the teenager, plus United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League means any move this year looks unlikely.

Back to James for now, though… The winger is quick, hungry, and ready to take his game to that next level. I’m all for United trying to sign young up-and-comers rather than moving for the ready-made, marquee signings at this point. As you can see from the video below, this guy looks a real speedster.
