Manchester United certainly haven’t hung around where new contracts are concerned since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge.
Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Ashley Young have all penned new deals recently. Perhaps the biggest one is just on the horizon…
According to The Times, Manchester United are now confident that David de Gea will extend his Old Trafford stay; that’s because the largest basic pay packet in the Premier League is currently on the table.
If he puts pen to paper, De Gea would trump the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who are up there amongst the biggest current earners in the English game.
However, if anyone deserves it, De Gea does. He has saved our bacon on countless occasions over the last few years and we’re seriously lucky to have him.
It’s crazy to think that he’s only 28. Perhaps his best years are still ahead of him, but if we can tie him down to one more long-term deal, it’d almost guarantee that he’ll be ours for the peak of his powers.
Hopefully, we’ll hear the good news soon and see that photo of him signing a contract sitting proudly alongside Ole Gunnar!
