Man United confirm Daniel James has agreed to sign in principle

Well, folks, Manchester United have confirmed their first signing. According to the club website, Daniel James has agreed, in principle, to join the Old Trafford club this summer.

The 21-year-old has passed his Red Devils medical after United and Swansea City agreed upon a transfer fee, while the 20-time Premier League champions have already agreed personal terms with the Wales international. A further announcement will be made in due course. Hopefully, at that time we see that photo of him holding the United shirt aloft.

James becomes Ole Gunnar Solskaer’s first signing as United boss and let’s hope he’s just one of many made in what is a massively important transfer window for this club.

I like the direction United are going in. They’re opting to move for young, up-and-coming talents rather than spending big on marquee players with bust potential. This is an attempt to get the Reds back to their roots and doing what they have always done best.

In terms of playing style, James is extremely quick, pretty good with either foot and has an excellent shot on him. That explosiveness could be deadly, particularly on the counter-attack.

Who knows whether James will feature regularly as a starter next season, but even if he’s used as a substitute, he could be an impact player from day one.

We’ll get our first glimpse of James on pre-season tour next month and I’m massively excited to see how he gets on.

Welcome, Daniel!
