Manchester United are considering the possibility of using Luke Shaw as bait to tempt Tottenham Hotspur into parting with Danny Rose, according to Bleacher Report.
Apparently, Jose Mourinho and co. are weighing up a potential January swap deal involving 22-year-old Shaw, so that Spurs won’t have to find a replacement for Rose.
The aforementioned report also adds that Shaw has recently been handed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2019. You’d suspect that the board at Old Trafford exercised this option in his contract to lower the risk of potentially losing the young man for free next summer; which makes sense from a business standpoint.
I’ve always been a fan of Shaw and I think he has huge potential. But, the injury issues just don’t seem to be going away and now that’s certainly becoming a bit of a problem. There is only so much time you can spend on the treatment table before it becomes too much – and there is absolutely no point in having all the talent in the world if you cannot get yourself fit and out on the field.
For right now, the main thing for Shaw is overcoming this latest injury issue and seeing how he gets on from now until January.
