Man United could drop Griezmann interest & sign Premier League striker instead: report

Manchester United Football Club could be preparing for a big summer transfer window, as Jose Mourinho continues to mould the squad into one that suits his style and tactics. However, plans to land one man could about to be abandoned.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who say that the self-proclaimed Special One may have to switch his attentions away from Antoine Griezmann. Although the Frenchman is thought to have a release clause in his contract, the report above says that he has privately intimated he is willing to stay with Atletico and Diego Simeone for another season.

Whether this is anything to do with their current transfer ban that remains to be seen, but obviously, they wouldn’t want to lose one of their prized assets if they cannot bring anyone in to replace him.

The player they could reportedly turn their attentions towards is Everton’s Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian, 23, has already confirmed his desire to leave Goodison Park this season, in order of a move elsewhere.

In my opinion, in terms of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic replacement, you’d struggle to find someone as close of a match as Romelu Lukaku is. He’s built in the same mould and I guess the only real difference is the fact the’s left-footed.

Everton obviously won’t want to part with the current Premier League top scorer, but if they are forced to let him go, they’d demand a hefty transfer fee so he wouldn’t come cheap.
