Every now and then, there’s a transfer rumour that leaves you scratching your head and then some…
This January window has all been pretty logical – until now. According to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, Man United are lining up a surprise loan move for veteran striker, and former Red, Carlos Tevez… Yes, you read that correctly.
Understandably, United want some cover for Marcus Rashford who is injured in the long-term. Right now, the Old Trafford club have just two healthy senior strikers on the books in the form of Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to be backed by the powers-that-be and I’m just not sure a loan move for a 35-year-old who is currently plying his trade in Argentina is going to cut it.
Obviously, Tevez’s best days are behind him, while his time with United definitely ended on a sour note. A deal for a player of his age doesn’t really fit in with the mould of footballer that Solskjaer has tended to make moves for, either.
To me, this just seems ridiculous and I don’t see this one happening in any way, shape or form. Surely if United are intent on going down the short-term route, there are better options out there than Carlos Tevez…?
