When Manchester United signed Alexis Sanchez in January 2018, I don’t think I’m alone when I say I was supremely excited.
The #7 has been nothing but a major disappointment. A case can be made that he’s the worst ever signing the Red Devils have made in their 100+ year history.
If things couldn’t get any worse, United are already paying Sanchez an arm-and-a-leg to do precisely nothing. Now, it is being reported by The Mirror that the club could be prepared to pay off the 30-year-old, with the figure standing at around £12million…
Apparently, and somewhat obviously, United are wanting to sell Sanchez but his £500k-a-week wages is something that other clubs aren’t willing to take up. This means the Old Trafford club will either have to subsidise his wages or pay him off in a lump-sum.
Serie A giants Inter Milan are interested, but if he moved there United would still be paying him a massive £250k-a-week until the end of his current contract.
Honestly, I think we should just pay him off and get him out of here. We don’t want this looming over us for the foreseeable future and the sooner we can move on from this abject failure, the better.
It’s a shame because no doubt wherever he ends up Sanchez will turn back into that world-beater he was at Arsenal, but sometimes, it just doesn’t work out for players in their new surroundings and it’s hard to come back from that.
