Man United dealt injury blow, star out for two months: report

Alexis Sanchez just cannot catch a break at Manchester United, can he? After a poor start to life at Old Trafford, the injuries have started to mount.

Now, according to The Telegraph, the former Arsenal man faces another two month spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury during the Red Devils’ 3-2 victory over Southampton on Saturday.

Sanchez underwent scans on Sunday and medial ligament damage to his right-knee was discovered and he’ll be out of action for between six and eight weeks which is a major blow.

United’s squad is already decimated with injury problems and losing another attacker couldn’t have come at a worse time. With Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard all out, it leaves just Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku as fit, senior attackers.

For a man who earns so much money here at United, injuries cannot excuse the poor performances we’ve seen from him over the last twelve months or so.

It’s a shame because Sanchez is a world-class player. He showed those capabilities during his spell at Arsenal. Sometimes, though, situations just don’t start out correctly and it becomes tough to recover. Unfortunately, his confidence looks shot and the fans are now starting to turn. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him sold during the summer…
