Manchester United’s injury problems have been well documented recently, with Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Juan Mata not expected back until next month at the very earliest. Englishman Smalling took to social media to provide us an injury update, and it looks like good news.
The centre-back posted a video of himself working hard in the pool, along with letting us all know that he is finally able to work without a brace on the leg – which is obviously a step in the right direction.
Have a look at the video here:

With Smalling and Jones out, we really have been short of options over the last few weeks but huge credit has to go to Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo; they have been sensational.
I guess it hasn’t really been a big issue to date, and the problem will only arise if either of the aforementioned duo goes down with an injury or are ruled out with suspension.
Smalling’s season has been an interesting one. He started the season as one of Mourinho’s first-choice centre-backs, but as the campaign progressed it felt like his performance levels were getting worse. Genuinely, I’m unsure as to whether the manager sees him as a long-term member of the first-team squad, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this one plays out.
