Manchester United continue to confuse. After a poor display against lowly Watford, the Red Devils would then win their next two against Newcastle United and Burnley.
The game on Saturday night at Turf Moor was just as you’d expect. Hard-fought, physical and extremely tight. In the end, the 20-time Premier League champions would wrap up all three points thanks to an injury-time second goal from Marcus Rashford.
It suddenly feels as though United are now within touching distance of the top four. Now, it’s about keeping up with this form going into an extremely tricky January.
For now, though, let’s enjoy the performances and results. For their individual displays, a key Man United duo were named in the BBC’s Team of the Week for their outings – and both deserve their place in Garth Crooks’ side.
This is exactly why Harry Maguire was signed. For so long this United backline has come in for criticism due to their frailty and fragility. Slabhead was brought in to command the defence and take control. He did exactly that away to Burnley, not giving the Clarets a sniff of an opportunity.
Then you have the in-form Anthony Martial. Give the Frenchman a chance and nine times out of ten he’ll hit the back of the net. It was no different on Saturday night as the former AS Monaco man begins to start finding form at just the right time.
Well played lads!
