Manchester United’s squad is far from perfect, although we’ve seen much better production from the players since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge.
That doesn’t change the obvious fact that this team needs work. Perhaps the biggest area of concern is defence, with the Red Devils seemingly keen on solving that problem.
In an exclusive by The Sun, United have apparently joined Real Madrid and Liverpool in the race to sign the talented FC Porto right-back, Eder Militao.
The 20-year-old has a £42.5million release clause in his current contract, although he only signed that deal last summer.
His performances, particularly in Europe, have led to the best of the best potentially looking at making a move for him, and in this day and age, his price tag isn’t too steep given his immense potential.
Personally, I would much prefer to see a centre-back brought in first, but make no mistake about it, right-back is still an issue. We have Diogo Dalot who is developing nicely, but it’d be unfair to put so much pressure on the 20-year-old to take up the mantle on a full-time basis as he’s still nowhere near the finished article.
If I’m being picky, I’d like to see someone with a tad more experience come in rather than yet another youngster, but it will certainly be interesting to see how this one plays out.
