After we covered a story just last night in which the usually reliable Andy Mitten, writing for GQ Magazine, claimed that a deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka was all-but done, today we’ve been given more information…
It comes from the Daily Mail, and although they see the fee is closer to £60million (as opposed to the £55m Mitten claimed), the Mail believe that United ‘expect’ to clinch a deal to sign the 21-year-old within the next 48 hours.
Furthermore, there is an indication that a deal is ‘very close’ as representatives of both United and Crystal Palace are scheduled to meet – presumably either today or tomorrow (Saturday).
There is now a ‘growing inevitability’ in regards to the deal with the talks designed to iron out the finer details and push through the move.
Wan-Bissaka himself is currently on international duty with England’s U21s in France at the European Championships. It is unclear as to whether he’d be allowed to depart in order to finalise his Old Trafford switch.
After an impressive debut season for Palace, you always felt like Wan-Bissaka was the right-back that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperately wanted to sign.
It does feel as though this move is now a case of when rather than if, and I’m absolutely delighted at the prospect of the youngster bombing up and down our right-hand side.
This boy is quality and I seriously cannot wait to see the photo of him all-smiles holding up the famous Red jersey. Hopefully, it’ll happen before United’s pre-season tour begins next month.
