Man United eye Barcelona duo as potential Pogba replacements: report

Manchester United may well be forced into parting with Paul Pogba this season, albeit the ball is in the Red Devils’ court due to the player remaining under contract.

In the event that United’s mercurial Frenchman does leave, perhaps the club won’t be able to replace Pogba with one single player. Let’s be honest, he’s a talented lad whose playing style is somewhat unique.

According to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo, United have ‘turned their attention’ to FC Barcelona stars Ivan Rakitic and Philippe Coutinho to replace the ‘wantaway’ Paul Pogba.

The article goes on to add that the Reds are ‘preparing for life’ without Pogba in their ranks, although the club won’t be forced into selling the 26-year-old unless the price is right.

Although both Rakitic and Coutinho are considerably different to Pogba in terms of style, the pair would be brilliant signings should United be able to pull either one (or both) of them off.

I have my doubts about whether either of them would want to make the move to Old Trafford at this point in time, though, particularly Coutinho due to his Liverpool links.

I’ve gone on record stating that I think Pogba will stay this summer, with an agreement in place behind the scenes which states that he can leave for a smaller fee in twelve months time.
