Manchester United’s squad needs serious work. Our loss to FC Barcelona last night proves that we’re extremely far off the best sides in European football.
The only way to change that is by spending in the transfer market. The latest player to be linked with a United move is Everton’s midfielder, Idrissa Gueye.
In a report from the Evening Standard, it is being claimed that the Red Devils have identified the classy 29-year-old as a potential Ander Herrera replacement – who seems Paris Saint-Germain bound.
Apparently, the Senegalese midfielder could be available for less than £30million, which is an absolute bargain for a player of his quality. He too is also linked with PSG, as the Ligue 1 club actually made a bid for him this January transfer window.
My first thought is that Gueye is Premier League proven which is always a huge plus. We need players who can come in and make an immediate impact, there’s no doubt that Gueye could do that, and in a midfield three alongside Paul Pogba and an ever-improving Scott McTominay, that could certainly work.
United should be all over this deal as soon as the transfer window opens. If we can make a strong start and push a few early signings over the line, then that would set us up for a big summer that we so desperately need.
