Man United eyeing cut-price January move for quality 27-year-old midfielder: report

Manchester United are eyeing a cut-price January move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

The 27-year-old is out-of-contract in the summer, and talks with The Gunners have broken down. That’s according to the Evening Standard, who adds that Liverpool are also keen on signing the Welshman.

In January, Ramsey would be free to talk to overseas clubs about signing a pre-contract. The winter window also gives Arsenal one final opportunity to move Ramsey on and receive some sort of transfer fee.

If he wants to stay in England, options would be limited. Manchester City and Chelsea are stacked in midfield, I doubt he’d go to Spurs. That leaves just United, and Liverpool, while the latter also have an abundance of high-level central players.

At this point, if United want him, I’d say they are the Premier League favourites to sign Ramsey, and he would offer an awful lot to this club if the deal would go through.

He’s got two good feet, is mobile, can drive at the opposition and will create chances due to his directness. We’ve seen it first-hand that he does love a goal, and all-in-all, in a cut-price move, this one would be a no-brainer. The fact that he has Premier League experience is his biggest selling point. Although it’d probably mean moving one midfielder on. Isn’t Ander Herrera a free agent next summer…?
