Manchester United are ready to do battle with Manchester City again; but this time, off the field.
According to the Daily Mirror, Paris Saint-Germain could be in Financial Fair Play trouble, and could be forced into parting with their 19-year-old superstar, Kylian Mbappe. Furthermore, the Red Devils could be willing to use Anthony Martial in any deal, with the club valuing him at around £80million.
Martial’s desire to leave the club certainly could play its part in any potential transfer, but if United can get £80million for the 22-year-old, then it would make sense to take it while it’s there. It would be a shame to see him leave, he’s a brilliant footballer, but he’s just not getting the game-time that his talents deserve.
However, that’s where my issue with Mbappe interest comes in. He plays in exactly the same position as Martial and will likely have the same problem. Jose Mourinho loves Marcus Rashford, and I just don’t see Mbappe getting through the defensive work that his English counterpart does. That’s before I even mention Alexis Sanchez.
My only logic is perhaps Mbappe may come in and play on the right-hand side, but you’re taking away his ability to cut in and cause damage with his right-foot; which is a major part of his game.
