Manchester United’s academy is overflowing with top-class talent at the moment, that simply cannot be denied.
Credit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has been more than willing to give opportunities to those who deserve it, though there simply isn’t enough minutes to please everyone.
Pre-season tour is always a good opportunity to get a look at these lads. Angel Gomes stole that show. He impressed the fans for the U23s against Stoke City last night, as did another budding Red Devil; James Garner.
For whatever reason, Garner has been used more sparingly than most and I’m not quite sure why as midfield has been a real weakness for United all season (until Bruno Fernandes was signed, anyway).
Garner was outstanding for the U23s again last night, scoring a couple of goals including a brilliant chip following some great link-up play with his pal Gomes.
I just don’t get what he has to do to get involved. United seriously need to play him in the cup competitions or sort out a loan move for the midfielder from Birkenhead. He’s shown time-and-time again that he’s a cut above U23s football.
As you’d imagine, United fans heaped praise on the 18-year-old starlet, as they all want to see Garner within the first-team mix as soon as possible. It was a top display last night as the midfielder continues to improve…
