Manchester United suddenly have themselves a full-back injury crisis. Luke Shaw is believed to be out for a month, while Diogo Dalot is also sidelined. Then you have young Ethan Laird who is also missing through injury.
Ashley Young is probably the only viable option in the left-back slot at this point in time, so that begs the question, who could be his back-up? Or who could challenge him for the position?
Well, Red Devils fans on Twitter have identified their man and it’s pretty clear what they’d like to see… Those United fans are calling for the mega-talented 18-year-old left-back Brandon Williams to get his chance as you can see from the tweets below:
Williams, a local lad from Manchester, is making a real name for himself with the United U23s team at the moment, and perhaps he can smell an opening following the injuries suffered.
I love Williams and I think he has an extremely bright future at this club. However, the fact that we didn’t see him on pre-season tour makes me wonder whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks he’s ready for the challenge.
You see the likes of Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and James Garner all went on tour but haven’t been used during the serious action, so why would Solskjaer throw Williams in?
It’s a nice sentiment but I seriously doubt it’ll happen. I’d love to be proven wrong, but perhaps Solskjaer wants to give Williams another 12 months of U23s football first…
