Manchester United made it four on the spin, with an excellent away victory against Newcastle United this evening.
The game itself was a tight-knit affair, but United’s clinical finishing took the game away from the hosts, and in the end, the better team did come out on top.
One of the changes made by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a rare start for club captain Antonio Valencia. The right-back came into the side replacing Ashley Young, but from the get-go, it was easy to see why the Ecuadorian hasn’t been playing much recently.
When you’re so one-footed, it’s tough to make it as a full-back. So often you’re reliant on your weaker foot to either make the pass inside or clear the ball away, but for Valencia, he’s so over reliant on his right, it makes him predictable.
Not only that, though, he seems to have lost his legs. For years his game was built upon having an excellent engine and losing such a vital part of his game has only sent him one way; down.
