Manchester United fans were left frustrated leaving Old Trafford yesterday. A home fixture against Crystal Palace is a fixture that the Red Devils simply should be winning, and winning comfortably.
The game itself was all one-way traffic. Palace has two good chances and scored two goals, but it was down to United’s ineptitude at creating solid openings.
The #10s job is to play in between the lines, stretch the defence and play those killer passes. It’s a job that Jesse Lingard has been given, but one that he is largely failing at.
We’re talking about an attacking player who has no goals or assists in 2019 despite being given plenty of minutes to prove his worth. I get that he’s a good presser and an excellent run-maker, but that’s not enough.
Against Palace, it was more of the same. None of the attacking players really put in a performance to be proud of, but Lingard didn’t do anywhere near enough before being subbed off midway through the second half.
As you’d imagine, the United fans weren’t best pleased with the 26-year-old, with Reds fans taking to social media in their droves to express their disappointment. They’re definitely not happy…
