Manchester United Football Club kicked off their Europa League group stage campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home to Astana.
The Red Devils dominated the possession game, but were rather lacklustre in front of goal. It took one moment of brilliance from Mason Greenwood to win the game, as the 17-year-old cut in on his left-foot and coolly slotted home past a hapless keeper.
To score your first senior goal, with that strike being a match-winner no less, is just incredible. The fans have been clamouring to see Greenwood in action ever since his debut against Cardiff City last term and my, it was worth the wait.
Greenwood is someone who gets bums on seats. He’s a homegrown product who the fans have taken to from day one, and to see his hard work being rewarded is just brilliant. In a way, we all feel like proud dads in this situation…
Anyway, as you can imagine, United fans took to Twitter in their droves to respond to the teenager’s unbelievable performance. Hopefully, this is the first goal of many in Red Devils colours for Greenwood – and it wasn’t a bad way to start, eh?
