The World Cup is well and truly underway, with Red Devils aplenty pitching in for their respective nations.
Romelu Lukaku had an excellent outing for Belgium yesterday afternoon, scoring twice in the their 3-0 victory over Panama.
Jose Mourinho’s star striker led the line extremely well, but in the first-half, he wasn’t getting the service that his ability deserves (we’ve certainly heard that one before…).
As the game opened up in the second 45, the opportunities started flowing. After an excellent ball in from Kevin de Bruyne, Lukaku duly nodded home to make things comfortable for his country. The 24-year-old scored again shortly after, with a deft little finish past an onrushing keeper to secure all three points.
It was a display that we’ve come to expect from Lukaku. He’s a forward who never panics when things aren’t going his way – showing a real maturity beyond his years. He knows that eventually, an opening will be carved out. The striker just has to be ready to capitalise.
As you’d imagine, United fans were absolutely buzzing about his performance over social media. Check out some of the best tweets about Lukaku below:
Just a reminder that Romelu Lukaku was once being compared to Alvaro Morata. One is bagging goals at the World Cup, the other is on a holiday.
